In periods of low wind a well-trained dog could power this in horizontal configuration.
@luidavinci I have experience with industrial scale generators (operation and repair/maint) and voltage regulator design. I worked in utilities for about a decade. The only experience I have with wind generation is working out the numbers to figure out what kind of renewable options were available where recently moved (Iowa – windy). Lately, I’ve been working with a startup trying to get solar powered grain drying to work (electronic controls) . I get lots of ideas from channels like this.
@ikedasquid Ah, I see. I misunderstood your original comment. Do you have experience building efficient wind turbines? I would like to learn. It’s a skill that everyone could benefit from.
@luidavinci Go read the whole thing, come up a calculation you think is reasonable, and then you will be able to explain why this is a waste of time. This design is not smart, it is naive. There are much better DIY turbines. Go look at the ones where half a PVC pipe is engineered into a blade.
You will burn more energy making this junkyard POS than you will ever gain with it.
@ikedasquid How is it a waste of time? The fact that it is generating electricity with having to use fossil fuels is smart, regardless of how simplistic the design. That is, unless you are proposing a more efficient do-ti-yourself junkyard turbine. ???
great video please check out my video;;thanks;lol;
@downlowfunk There are people with solar panels on their houses who generate more power than they need and sell the rest to the power company. Part of the problem is energy consumption. A good starting point is to reduce your energy consumption. Switch to more energy efficient bulbs and don’t leave lights on that aren’t being used.
@bratboy90 Unless there is a power outage. I have been looking into wind power for use during power outages. I don’t need to be able to power my whole apartment. I just need enough juice for some LED lights and to charge my cell phone and laptop. The wind turbine in this vid might fit the bill.
I’m thinking that a small windfarm on your roof top will create enough electricity to light your home at night.
@GREENPOWERSCIENCE I’m not so sure it scales up so easily, I think its possible that the bigger it is, the faster the relative tangential wind speed becomes and you might have to start worrying about parasitic drag taking over. (a low pressure over the leading blades). Also under load, the ability for the blower fan to generate torque is very important. I think this design has serious limitations in that respect. I’d bet there’s a reason why this design isn’t used for commercial applications.
Why didn’t you show one hooked up to a generator to see the output.
Imagine if it was balanced.
WOW! Denise, you are truly gorgeous. I`m totally infatuated with you. Lucky Dan!
the answer is hydrogravitypower
I have better,!!!
Anyone posting negative comments should be aware that Dan and Denise are taking their own time to make videos to try to help people and are not asking for anything in return ,My dad once said if you have nothing good to say it is better to say nothing at all. Thanks for all your efforts Green Power Science!
@downlowfunk This is why we pay for our energy. There is no ‘wonder fuel’; just the desire to create more efficiency using the technology that we have.
Apart from the knitted wooly hat of the woman and the terrible spelling from other posters, it is a great concept worth the experimentation of every person. Even if one may only be able to light a single bulb, it is one less bulb which needs a nuclear or coal-fired power station behind it.
congratz on the video Denise!
You know what else has everything I’m looking for? My local powerplant. All I need is power, don’t care how I get it really and never will.
why havent we helped the poor with this info?
Thanks for this video.. I might have to give that a go!
All the best,
-Pete
@la221rage You’d still have to buy energy. The ouput never covers the input when it comes to these green technologies.
